Funny that you mentioned the wood sprites. We have them here also. They are cantankerous little devils. They love to get up into the tops of trees and throw down dead limbs at you when you cut a tree down. They also take great pride in pushing the tree that you so carefully checked out and perfectly notched to fall between 2 other trees so it hangs up in one of them, or worse yet push bit so it lands on your tractor that you parked too close. When you are liming the top they love to move limbs to trip you up. They also love to bite your bar when liming so you have to get the other saw out and cut the liming saw free, and the mean ones love to load limbs like a loaded bow and knock an unsuspecting wood cutter on his butt. When skidding logs, they take great pleasure in grabbing onto the end of the log and invoke a tug of war between them and your tractor, and sometimes do bodily harm to a novice wood cutter with his Ford N type tractor hooked to the butt of a log. When pushing brush with a FEL they enjoy throwing daggers at the grill of your tractor. When sawing logs into blocks, the sprites are experts at pinching your bar and chain so you have to get out your wedges to free the saw, and they love to perfectly place stones under the logs rite where the tip of your saw blade will hit it. They are persistent little devils, even when you are splitting the blocks. They love to cause you to pinch your fingers and roll on their backs laughing when a block gets wedged on the splitter, or one pops when splitting it and whacks you on the knee cap, lands on your toe, or worse. Wood Sprites are out there, so when you fire up the chainsaw be aware of all the destructive things they can do, and be careful. Loren

As a kid he worked part time on a farm in Kansas doing many of the manual chores. Some of the more successful farmers of that day had a new time saving device called a tractor. It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
