Probably rolled over the rear rubber cup shaft seal that rides inside the pilot tube on that pump application. Could also be the brass pilot tube ID is worn/scored at the rear seal area. Was a new brass tube epoxied in the housing when the pump was repaired? Trick to know if the rear seal is in place right, pump will slide over the lubed seal easily. If the pump needs lots of effort to get to the timing gear case, it's most likely rolled over. Most all pumps I see in for repair need a new tube due to seal wear inside.
