SMS, I have to agree with you. When young, I picked a fight with a tablesaw. It won!
My dad had a Sears contractor style saw, and back then the rip fence was made of just a fairly thin steel angle. However, the main problem wasn't the angle iron, but the rip fence. Couldn't always count on it locking down perfectly parallel with the blade.
Was building a dog house and while ripping a board, the board got bound between the blade and fence, then the blade kicked the board up and out of the way, pulling my hand into the blade.
I got lucky. Took the skin off of one knuckle, and cut the corner off a fingertip, just under the nail. Probably wouldn't have needed much more than a big band aid, but a surgeon chose to take a skin graft from my wrist. Made me look like I tried to cut myself. *lol* That's one time when luck was definitely on my side!

Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
