My oil furnace repeatedly activates itself for about 15 seconds every half hour or so, even when the thermostat is not calling for heat.
What does that mean? Does the fan come on? Does the oil gun come on?
If it's just the fan, I wouldn't worry. Some HP the fan is on low after unit is off to circulate air.
Have you ever crunched numbers to see how much it costs you to burn oil? Price/BTU's? My old oil furnace used about 1 Kw/hr, fan, ign transformer and gun motor.
My numbers to burn oil were about the same as using electric resistance heat.
I added more insulation and converted all my rentals to electric baseboard heat. No more service calls to repair oil furnace.
