To make the Ford transmission last the fluid needs to be kept clean and fresh. On a truck that's towing I'd change it every 30K miles - and I'd get a pan that has a drain plug to make it a lot easier to do. On your RV where the transmission is constantly under load I'd change it at least every 30K.
You are only changing about 1/3 of the fluid when you drain the pan only so doing it more often keeps it from getting to bad. Most of the after market pans with the drain plug hold an extra 3-4 quarts.
On my older trucks (with the E4OD) I don't drop the pan - I drain the torque converter and get 2/3s of the fluid out. Let the truck idle and refill. Can't do that on newer truck since the torque converters don't have drain plugs.
