Everything old becomes new! Twenty years or more back someone called my factory and the receptionist said yes to a question and I received a bill for over a thousand dollars for some publication. They called and called and I received a notice by mail that looked official of a collection claiming they had a recording that I had agreed to the purchase. I wrote back that I was sole owner and had never given the authority to anyone to purchase anything. That ended the calls. After that everyone that would or might answer a phone were instructed to never use the word yes to any question on the phone. When ask a question to reply with why! I also explained it is not rude to hang up the phone. My telephones were paid for by me for my convenience not people calling in. We did not have an obligation to answer the phone or carry on a conversation with anyone we choose not to. Some of my employees thought I was asking them to be rude. I told them no they were not rude to hang up on scammers that the scammers were the rude ones. No law that says I even have to have a phone.
