It sounds like you found a great tractor! 4wd only assists in braking while 4wd is engaged and you don’t want to be running it engaged on paved roads and maybe not great on dry gravel roads either as it’s usualy not completely perfectly synchronized due to tire wear and intended ratios. Most newer models with electronic engaged 4wd will automatically momentarily engage the 4wd while braking. The cab would be intended for safety for tip over purposes but if it was to completely roll several times down a long hill it’s hard to say how it would fair out. That being said it’s way safer than an open station without ROPS. Those fords are good tractors,if it’s in good running order you shopped well.
