Though only about 50 miles away, I've never been there but it's on my bucket list too. I remember my Father telling us kids in 1963 that they were going to shut the engines down forever. He and my Mother investigated to see if our family could visit before the shut down but such visits were not allowed at the time. What a tragedy! It would have been something that one would forever remember.
Be sure to watch Parts 2 and 3 of the videos. Watching how the pump house was built 85' below grade in flood prone area next to the Ohio River in the very early 1900s is fascinating.
