I took one of the semis in first thing to dump this morning - the old ‘87 Ford L8000. I made some comment about him not needing to go far to probe it because I had the hopper full to the top. The boys at the elevator have used my truck to take their CDL test, so they all know the gutless wonder of the 3208 Cat. I made some comment about how it was so full I couldn’t outrun my troubles.
He said “No, look at what you drive. You don’t need to outrun anything because it’s all paid for. It’s obvious how you treat your stuff because it’s yours and it all still runs.” Kind of made me think. I guess I do see most of the guys on a lease using their stuff like they stole it. Not all, but most (at least here). I get a kick out of using the old 50’s Chevys around the farm, but I didn’t expect the old trucks were talking about me the whole time!
