The other thing was the "RED" cap on the Fuel tank. Before I realized this from that, my fuel cap was RED and leaking. I had a RED cap on my GREEN tractor and figured it was a PO's stop gap solution from an old Farmall to solve a JD problem. Upon staking my claim at the parts counter while at the dealer one day, the clerk puts a box on the counter and while he's writing up the order I open it to see what I'm getting for my money.
Pop the lid and lo and behold I'd staring at a RED cap. I told him to wait a minute....I'm not putting that RED cap on my GREEN tractor....he laughed. Sir the cap is red because it's up front where the radiator cap usually is and Mother Deere didn't want her customers putting water in their diesel tank.
Come home and pull out my I and T service manual and right there on the front of it in living color is a 3020 with a RED cap on the tank. Used the manual many times but never paid any attention to the color of the cap on the diesel tank. Just more jibberish killing time.

It wasn't to relive memories of Grampa, Dad or myself out on the back 40 nursing the Farmall pulling too many b
