For years I've used tractors and rear blades or front end loaders to shove snow around on my place, and neighbors places. Then, last year, I picked up a nice older snow blower. The tractor will never be used for snow plowing again. A job that would take me 2 hours with the tractor, and leave a poor surface can be done in 1/2 an hour with the blower, and leave a clear surface. Rocks are a concern (or so I hear). But you can control the height of pickup with the skid feet. Small rocks (thumbnail size) just go right on through my snow blower. My recommendation therefore would be for a good snowblower.
