98 DIN hp just a bit less than 90 ASAE PTO HP. 6-14's was plenty of plow for that tractor. Not sure how I feel about Europe's passion for Pushing a plow ahead of a tractor. Most ground engaging tools "Pull" better than they push. Neighbor farmed lots of ground, raised lots of hogs, and cattle too. Had two HS age sons. His big tractor was a Farmall 706 gas, between the three operators, Dad and both sons, they could keep it running around the clock. But they shut it down to refuel. Right after I got home from college one summer, went over to the BTO neighbor to see if he needed help. He was kinda expecting me but not ready for extra help. I hauled manure all day, 400 head of feeder cattle, always manure to haul. Weather report was a weather front to blow thru about dark, rain, maybe up to an inch, but Boss said he'd get a tractor hooked to the plow if I wanted to plow a while. Said I'd be back around 7 PM, Had 4020 gas on 5-14 F-145 plow. Half mile rows, 4th gear, 16 rounds per tank of gas, in 4 hours, so back to yard about 11 PM, maybe a bit later, back plowing around 11:30, sky was clear by then, bright moon to see by, turned light off so I could see off in the distance. About 3:45 AM back at the gas barrel again, Boss comes out to do chores. While we're talking a car pulls in the yard. Was Dad, looking for Me, That was the end of my "All Nighter". Went home, couldn't sleep, went back to work about 8 AM, hauling manure again. Wish he could have got one of the diesels on the plow, 4020 or 4320, could have run 7 hours on a tank of fuel and plowed in 5th gear.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
