my wife and I spent 6 weeks in northeast Alabama in the spring, to sell a house. while there, I found a real active tractor club, and met some fine folks. the longer we stayed, the more it felt like home, so probably good the house sold so we could come home. went back to Al twice this year, for red power roundup, and a tractor show in October. if we decide to retire to the south for the winters, I would definitely consider the Gadsden-Centre area. not so sure about the summer tornado season, but a lot of houses have concrete shelters in their cellar.
