Years back my uncle had THREE stolen and never found any of them , The last one was the 4520 John Deere , it was stolen the night of the local tractor pull , back then most guys just drove there tractors to the pull and either hauled there weights on a wagon pulled behind or the wife/ girl friend or buddy drove the pick up . So no one was going to know if at 2 or 3 in the morning if that tractor that went by was stolen or not and even if the local law saw one go by they would not stop and ask questions . Several years back this month on the coldest night of the year Theifs opened up the barn doors at my one friends place and fired up the skid steer and drove it oput of the barn and out across the fields to the township road behind his place loaded it on the road and were gone . That skid steer was his only means of feeding his live stock . Forced him to rent one at 200 bucks a day while his insurance company kept playing games and not paying up . Three weeks went by when a friend of his was at a little restaurant having breakfast and over heard a guy bragging about the LX 665 he had just bought for 4500 bucks that came with a large bucket and two new ft tires , This friend said hey ya know what that sounds like the LX 665 that was stolen three weeks ago . That guy left soon after and went home and called the sheriff they sent out Deputy Dwag to check S/N and yep it was Eugenes . Then the real fight began Insurance company did not want to let eugene take it back but had never paid him for it Sheriff wanted Eugene to pay for the hauling and one day storage charge . Now in between time i had found my friend another LX 665 that he bought and sent the 200 dollar a day rental back . The insurance company told him well you bought a new one so you don't need the old one back , Eugene informed them that well you never paid for it so the old one is still mine He had to get the lawyer involved to get it back and the insurance company ended up having to pay for the rental storage and trucking .

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Not a place one would associate with farms or farm machinery. I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
