A couple pictures. One is the remnants of an old key that was jamming the lock. Second is a picture of the inside of the old door mechanism. Wondering how hard it would be to make a key for this? If you look at the picture you can see that the key rides up along either of the two downward projecting points on the bolt. I am speculating that these serve as wards and keep you from opening the door with just a rectangle on a stick. When the key rides to the top it pushes up the piece of metal in the slot which deflects the flat spring above and allows the bolt to slide under the stop when the key, continuing the circle, pushes the bolt out. Hoping that makes sense but look at the pictures and you can see what I mean. Anyone ever make a key for one of these? Doesn't look like I need a locksmith for something so simple. May even be able to just find one that works at the salvage yard?
