There are differences in road and aviation gas, none of which have anything whatsoever to do with varnish formation (your original concern). Actually most of the difference is in taxes! Having flown quite a bit when I was younger, we used aviation gas in hot rod cars and road gas in aircraft. Using high-octane fuel in an engine that doesn't need it is a waste of money but hurts nothing (except a slightly lower power output, not likely to be noticed in a tractor). Keep the shiny side up!
