Does he drive his car at maximum throttle and vary his speed with the gears? I cannot see the purpose of running at maximum RPM if you are pulling a hay rake or some other light chore. You don't want to lug a diesel at extremely low RPM's like under 1000 rpm, but there is no reason to flog the crap out of it all the time either. We have two ford tractors (6600 and 4600) both with about 2500 to 3000 hrs on them and we have rarely the tractors over 1800 RPM and Normally work them around 1400 to 1600 RPM. Your Massy 135 with a Perkins 3 cyl engine should be treated about the same. Just my opinion. Carp
