There was a lot of that. White Motor Company and White Consolidated Industries were two different companies. While White Motors was going bankrupt,WCI was thriving. WCI came in announcing that they were buying White Farm from White Motors. With no reason to believe the deal wouldn't go through,they went in and stripped out the White Farm factories to modernize them. Then the Justice Department stepped in and said WCI already owned to big of a share of Allis Chalmers and that if they owned White Farm too,it would give them a monopoly,so they wouldn't allow the sale to go through. That left the already strapped White Farm with factories that weren't even capable of producing equipment because the factories had been stripped out.
