The concrete company I worked at for 25 years was owned by a multi millionaire,he owned about 10 different plants and I knew him personally very well.He started buying up dairy farms back in the 80's owned 4 good size ones I knew about I asked him about it since farming isn't as nearly as profitable as concrete. His answer was the gov't money was what he was after,he had a couple people in their main office working on finding out about and applying for every gov't program, grant, subsidy they could dig up he said it added up to big money. So here is a guy not a farmer as such but he was 'farming' the gov't and one of the side effects was he was adding to the dairy surpluses. In my county the top 5 or 6 people on the EWG list of those getting Farm related money from the gov't are people very much like him, well off folks that don't farm.Gov't money injected into farming is the worst thing that ever happened to farming in the US in my opinion for farmers that actually hands on farm.Plus guys like the fellow I described have 'friends' at the ASC office or whatever its called these days and they are first in line for everything.
