Stan..During the fast advance in aviation spured on by the great need of the first world war, radial engines were the about the finest example of leading edge technology..bar non. The power per pound of each generation was unheard of just a few years earlier. At that time "POWER" was the name of the game in aircraft design. That technology filtered down into tractors. The "updraft" carb to reduce flooding and fire. etc. High pressure oil systems to handle high torque. etc The WW2 engines used "turbo" fuel systems. The B-29 that dropped the first nuke had fuel injection to increase range(power to weight).. years later tractors\cars got that. Ralph
