What was really good for less trouble than a full cab was the "Weather Shield". You had to have the factory ROPs and steel canopy. This weather shield had steel frame with glass for the front window. The removable side windows. Right and left door. Two canvas side curtains like a heat houser. I never saw one with a back window or curtain but I think they made one.
I have part of one on a JD 4020. I only have the front windshield. The rest was not with the tractor when I bought it. Even just the front window helps year round in keeping stuff out of your face.
In the past several neighbor had them. I actually liked them better than the full cabs. They were less noisy. Plus cooler in the summer. There is usually a breeze under a canopy. That is why they suck in the fall/winter. Even on a sunny day they are colder.
