Hook a volt meter to the battery and run the tractor. The voltage will be higher when it is running (usually about 14.1 volts for a 12 volt system) than when it is not. If the voltage is higher and the battery does not charge, the problem is the battery (Any water?). If the voltage does not change, the problem is the generator or the regulator.
