modern diesels will use return fuel to the filter to help keep the filters warm, or even a heater at the filter. Thiese types help significantly to keep the filter from jelling up. Most old tractors return fuel to the tank, and the filters have a year on them at least. 911 helps in poor designs or simi dirty filters.
