Weather warmed up a bit so I traded places with the two Mercs. The 53 parts car had been taking up space in the workshop for a year now and I wanted to get the 52 driver in there to work on it. So I did a little switch and some work on the cooling system. I was surprised to find a thermostat in one of the spare parts car's heads. The 52 has none in it. I think the popular belief was that thermostats slowed the flow of coolant and the old flatheads tended to run hot anyway, so most left them out.
