This time of year when it nice, it's time to clear asian honeysuckle. The boss uses the mule to pull the 3500w RV champion generator bolted in a lawn cart and a B&D alligator (6 inch chainsaw) to go to the gravel pit and cut brush. She stacks it up and I use terramite to send it to burn pit.
Yesterday I was removing brush and leveling dirt with terramite. I noticed the generator was running way too fast. I went to pole barn to get frequency meter and discovered generator was indeed running too fast, 75 hz. I just had to adjust governor screw to slow it down. Going to put lock tight on the screw and mount the frequency meter on generator.
I was happy we didn't damage the generator.
My other Champion has frequency meter built in along with a battery and starter.
This generator has been a good one. It's about 10 years old. This is the only issue I've had with it. Has anyone had their generator run too fast? If so, did it damage the generator?
