Rod, I have a 4 cyl. Deutz diesel in a Baker forklift, we bought it brand new in about 1984. I have never had a problem with the motor, but it gets treated alot like a utility tractor mostly idling and back and forth motion never seeing any high revs. I can't remember how many hours are on it but it is quite a few. In my opinion a very well built motor, I haven't noticed it being that noisy though it is definitely noisier than our old gasoline Clark. As for overheating, it gets plenty hot here, was 106 degrees last week and as long as you keep the fins clean and mice nests out of the motor no problem. Johnny in E.TX
