The last time I ran mine out of diesel I laid on the starter too long. It cost me a field winding. BUT, the gear reduction starter that this website sells spins it a BUNCH faster! I hope yours does not come to that. Mine was because the tank valve was turned off, and not enough coffee to remember my theft prevention.
A rag soaked in Gasoline held against the intake will help. that should make it spin fast enough to open the injectors. Fuel shutoff rod allowed "IN" Throttle at 30 percent. helps me to bring mine up after running it dry about twice every 12 months.
