As a kid I helped mom and dad cut up wood with the circle saw on the front of the farmall H. In winter of course, on snow and ice.
So, coming from that, the screw wood splitter seemed a lot safer to me when I used it. Person needs to keep their witts about them and know what they are doing.
Frankly I think the chainsaw is equally or more dangerous, a spinning saw out there in your hands as you walk around.
two people using a regular log splitter is frightening to me. Very easy to smash something when one person doesn’t anticipate what the other person is going to do.
I ran the screw at idle, it killed the tractor when you got in knots, it ran pretty slow, seemed to work well. Keep your hands the heck away from that ‘handle’ getting yourself limbs pinched in that bar was the danger I found to creep up on you.
Much more dangerous in the far, is livestock. They aren’t predictable.
So, yea a spinning screw is a danger.
Seems on the lower end tho to me, of the dangerous things I’ve used?
