Dad had one about 20 years ago. Many tractor companies used the Chrysler power plants. Here is a short list, Massey, Love, Friday, Simpson, Lerh, Custom, Wards. They made these tractors go fast so after you were done picking aples or working in the orchard you coud just pull your wagons into town with your fast tractor. It would not suprise me that that a stock Friday would run 40 to 50 mph with a govenor. Take the govenor off and you might be looking at 60 to 70 mph. I read in a Antique Power Magazine aticle of a oval track racing Simpson tractor that would hit speeds of over 80 mph. I have a Custom tractor, I have a idea that it will run about 55 to 60 mph without a govenor. The fun thing about my Custom is that from a dead stop to 200 feet it will cross the line at about 45 mph. You might like to check out my web site. At our tractor rodeo one of the events is a Drag Race for tractors.
