For a while I ran Quaker State 10-40 because that is what my dad used. After a while my oil pressure seemed to go down, I switched over to Castrol and have not had any problems since doing so. I change it religiously when my odometer reads 3000, 6000, and 0000 for the last four digits, (otherwise I will not remember when the last change was). I had the exhaust valve seat go bad on the number 2 cylinder, but I will blame that on a stuck thermostat. At 150000 miles the cylinder walls barely have a ridge. This is in my 4x4 83 F150, 300 ci with a 1bl carburator. Till I find something that can beat the performance for the same price, I'm running Castrol in everything I own. Slughammer
