Hey John KIm Here. For seeds I just use any type of seed starter like Jiffy. I use Solo cups (they are cheapest) from the dollar store. Soak the media first in super warm water. Poke wholes in the bottom of the cup, Fill cups to the top and sprinkle several seeds on top then just a bit more media. All of one variety one cup. Then add that cup into another cup to use as a water reservoir. Always water tomatoes from the bottom to ward off any disease. Then When they start to get bigger I add Promix or any good composted grow mix into a cups marked with the name of the variety, Poke a whole with your finger into the media and separate the seedlings from the other dirt one at a time and put on plant per cup, plant this seedling up to the lowest leaves on the plant . The solo cups work really good, they hold a good amount of water.
