As a child of the 80's I really had to think on this one. I bleed green and after going through what Deere offered at that time, I even considered choosing a red tractor. But that was merger year I believe and my uncle on my mother's side, who loved his farmalls as much as we love Deeres, went green for a couple of years. Plus there weren't any models I liked there either. So if I was forced to have a tractor from my birth year of 1985 it would have to be a John Deere 4450. Even though my other uncle on my father's side, who was a John Deere Technician for many years, said to stay away from that series, especially with the ZP front MFWD axle.
