I want to say "Thank you" to all respondents for the good ideas and comments. However, I won't be getting down to Wal-Mart. I think Sam Walton forgot about Australia! Looks like a lift would be the way to go and may be my way of the future. However, I am still considering a "pit". I am now considering building one somewhat more shallow, where sitting (on a roll around stool) versus standing would be required. This concept might sound a bit wierd. But consider lower construction costs, less of a safety hazard (not as deep), and with high clearance autos plenty of escape routes. My aim is to use the pit for lubes and oil changes only. Whadda ya think?? Ted
