About a year ago, we hired a couple Amish lads to do some repair work on an old barn. Among other things, some of the sills were rotted out, and that required jacking up the barn to get the weight off.
First thing I did was round up the old barn jacks, which hadn't been used in years, so were rusted up. They looked at those and at me and kinda blinked......as if to say..."what are you thinking"? One told me they had never seen one before.
I then showed em the hydraulic jacks and their mood brightened considerably. They grabbed onto those in a heartbeat. They went to work and the barn went airborne like it wanted to.
