Yes GF, There was an 840 made. It was a 4 speed and a nice running tractor it is. A neighboring farm had one that I use to drive.. First Ford I ever drove..tractor, car or truck. If you have a manual for the 841 it may not mention the 840 as there were differences made between the two. The 841 is actually an upgraded 840. Why tell you about the older model when they want you to only understand the newer model? Good Luck Tom-Pa
