But how could advice about being careful that you don't spend your hard-earned money (assuming it is your own hard-earned money) on something that a 17-year-old chap should think twice about spending be bad advice? On the other hand, if mom and dad are always going to be there for you financially, or at least for the foreseeable future, then spend away as you wish. When I was your age I was bound and determined to buy myself a car. My dad wouldn't allow it and the reason was financial. Looking back, he was 100% correct.
