“Private property is private property, no need for No Tresspassing signs” true when talking about timber trespass. That’s theft.
Access and limited use of others private land without explicit permission can be different.
In my state, if the private land isn’t legally posted, fenced (more than 3 wires), or cultivated, there is implied permission granted for anyone to legally hunt the land.
If it’s not legally posted it is implied permission is granted for people to traverse the property as long as it does no damage.
Additionally, in some places there is such a thing as “Open Range” grazing laws, where it is legal to turn your livestock loose to graze private land if it’s not fenced. It’s the land owners responsibility to fence animals out. Alternatively if animals wander into your fenced land, there is a mechanism where you can claim them as your own.
Around here there are instances where law enforcement is next to worthless. Due to budgetary concerns, our county DA will not prosecute theft cases under $975 in value. Seriously if you catch someone stealing $500 in fuel off your ranch they will not pursue it legally. Shoplifting is out of hand around here because of that.
