Our favorite concert venue is the Ark in Ann Arbor, MI. It only seats 400 people, but some pretty big names play there. Musicians who play there regularly include Judy Collins, Junior Brown, Marcia Ball and pretty much every folk singer who can still pick a guitar. Artists we've seen there include Nanci Griffith, Al Stewart, John McCutcheon and Garnet Rogers.
Detroit has a number of good concert venues. We've seen some good shows at the Fox Theater, a beautiful 1920s movie theater. There's also Chene Park, an amphitheater right on the Detroit River that has jazz concerts all summer long. We've also gone to some shows at Pine Knob (now called DTE Music Theater) and Meadowbrook, both of which are outdoor theaters not too far from us.

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
