I have burned 3 or 4 cords this winter so far. I got behind on my wood cutting last summer so I went and got a bunch of slab wood from an Amish sawmill. I got the slabs from the mill for 8 bucks a load as much as you could get in the truck. I usually left a 10 in the box and stacked it up. I never thought much of slab wood but I am pleasantly surprised how nice it burns and that it lasts as long as it does. I see another bunch of it in my future for next year. The other bonus was the wood is cut to length and could go from sawmill to stove if needed.
