231Ford Industrial,clutch brakes ect problem

Just purchased a Ford 231 Industrial tractor a few problems. The pto grinds when engaging it ...does this tractro have a two stage clutch in it ,,,could that need adjusting or is there live power as the tractor works like it had independent pto except for engaging it or could it be clutch brakes on the pto ??? Don't know much about Fords .. ALSO this tractor has low profile tires on it which makes the angle on the pto shaft to the mower very sharp, is the a converter that will allow me to raise the pto hight so I can keep the low profile I like for stability on on steep slopes.
