Seems to me there's a faction in this country who want to make the US the Amish of the world. The Amish don't have twenty trillion dollars of debt,but otherwise,the similarities are striking. Isolate ourselves from the rest of the world,freeze technology and innovation at some arbitrary point in time that means nothing except for some sort of nostalgia,no outsiders,just interbreed among ourselves,don't let anybody else in to our little community except as tourists to see what an isolated,backwards civilization looks like.
