Years ago, my sister and her husband lived out West... her husband suddenly very ill, losing weight VERY fast, heart palpitations and some other symptoms. He went to local doc, got referred to doc in a big city clinic out west. Nobody could figure out the problem.
Sister suggested they come back to MN to go to Mayo. They got the referral right away and traveled back here immediately. Turned out he had extreme case of hyper-active thyroid. Mayo docs diagnosed it in very short order... they also told him if he'd waited only 2 or 3 days longer, he would have died from it.
