My Aunt retired from Social Services 4 years ago after 24 years. The last few years that she worked her case workers went from 60 cases per worker to over 100 cases when she retired. She told me that the system was in dire need of overhaul when she first started. Which was never meant to incorporate so many different types of needs. She said it had gone to the point were it had become generational. At some point she believes it will implode. One thing that I just could not get past is that if a case worker discovered that a S&S # was false or was someone else’s say a males number being used by a female that they were given strict instructions that imformation could not be disclosed. They were not supposed to denie any claim based on that being a consideration in possible benefits. Now I don’t know if that is still policy I’m not sure if that varies state to state or county to county. I do know my aunt said that they were warned that imformation and a lot of other information was confidential and by no certain terms was it to be shared. She shared it with me she said hey what are they going to rub me out. I can speculate and rant and rave all I want and think I have all the answers but at the end of the day this is a cluster muck of a problem and there is no easy answer. It’s like tryin to put a fire out with a shot glass.
