Weird TO35 problem

My father has a TO35 that he barely uses, but handy when needed. Recently the distributor started trying to climb out of the block. It will bend the keeper plate up until the gear loses contact with the cam and die. I have never heard of a problem like this, and none of the local mechanics are familiar with older tractors, and don't really believe me. I am at loss. I am am double posting here and on Ferguson forum in hopes that anyone with a Continental Z134 has an answer.
