Jocco, I certainly do not want to step on yours or anyone else's toes, but historical society is kind of a 4 letter word in my neck of the woods. The only thing the historical group in my area wants to do it tell people what they can and can't do with their property, and try to get everything put in a historical district so that there can be no development or new business or industry come into the county. They recently tried to put over 5000 acres of private land into a historical district that really had not historical significance. They thought they could stop a natural gas pipeline by doing this. If the landowners hadn't stood up they would have gotten it done. I live in a county of 13,000 people with very few businesses and very little industry. Tax rates are climbing much faster than the population. The historical group wants our county to be the same as it was in 1863 when we became a state. They want zero growth. The historical group fought with the county commission for nearly a year over the appropriate roof to put on the courthouse. I am a member of the county planning commission and everything we do is scrutinized by the historical group. Don't get me wrong, I love history, old buildings and statues, especially the Confederate ones that everyone is trying to destroy, but common sense has to prevail.

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
