I deal with two locally owned tire stores. Both sell quality merchandise, treat customers quite well, and are near the same prices as the big chain stores. The clincher is that the locally owned stores include mounting,balancing,rotation and will check the air pressure anytime you desire for the life of the tires. I have decided that keeping money in the community is important, as they have decided that service is important. So my new tires cost me $10 apiece extra, look at the return! Not all stores try to bleed the customers. As for shop rates, I just returned from the diesel repair store at 6pm, $85 per hr., and worth every cent. The guy at the chain tire store last year said " I didn't balance your tire because it only goes on a travel trailer". I protested and he balanced it for $7 more. I never shopped at that store again. Moral: sometimes the best deal is not the cheapest! The only way to teach a business is to take yours somewhere else. Someone burn my soapbox- please!
