When I was a kid, we kept the hay in the upstairs of the barn, and the cattle downstairs, and only snow we had to worry about was from the stable door to the manure pile. Nowadays the cattle run outside all year round, the hay is left out to rot and get buried in snow, and everyone complains about no money in farming.
