They make vehicle license plates and most feed themselves are a couple of things Tx. does of which I know. Makes sense to me. Win-win.
We have low taxes here and on the subject of plates, some years ago Tx. decided to follow places like Georgia and Florida, to name a couple, who had pretty, multicolored plates with adornment. Somebody came along, looking to keep taxes low, saw all this hoopla as an unnecessary waste of money and now the plates are back to two colors, black numbers on a white background, two colors like they were for most of my life.
Along the lines, they also quit requiring a new plate every year...my 2011 Silverado still has the orig. plates with no reason to request new at renewal time.....and drivers licenses are now good for 6 years rather than 1 as used to be the case and if you drive correctly you can get your renewal without a trip to the TXDOT office...more savings and shorter lines.
Course Tx. law states that no part of the information on the plate can be covered....like the dealer added advertisements that usually blocked something....now they can have their ads and keep the customer legal.
