depends on your stove. many of the true pellet stoves were not designed to burn corn. Most of the corn stoves have a small agitator in the fire pot to stir the corn to keep the klinkers down. I had burned some corn in my pellet only stove but only about 25% mix. quit burning corn as to buy it was just as much or more expensive than pellets. have farm sources too but for the small amount i would burn it isn't worth bugging those guys for a bushel or 2.
around here (north Central IN) pellets are in short supply too but i do have a couple places to get them that still have them in stock. Prices have gone up. bought what should be the last of the pellets for us for this year last weekend. paid about 175/ton last fall. last weekend was more like $200/ton and some places like TSC were higher. TSC brand i had tried (matched Big R price) were really bad for klinkers.
your pellet stove should be able to burn cherry pits if you can find them i would think pits would be cheaper but they never have been. only thing that makes sense for the higher prices is they have to maybe wash and dry them but otherwise just bag them.
