2 years after my Dad died, I started getting billed for deposit box he had at the bank. We had no clue my parents had one. The estate had already been settled for a year. Went to the bank with a key I found and told one of the officials I wanted to open the box and see what was in it and then give the box up. She did not know what to do since the estate was settled. Finally she said we would have to have the estate proceedings started again by a lawyer before we could open it. I said that was crazy. She spent a long time on the phone with people way up in her bank and nobody knew what to do. Finally they decided to open it with me and her standing there to see what was in it. I joked that I hoped it was filled with gold bars. After all that hoopla, it was empty and we had a good laugh over the whole thing. Richard in NW SC
